What this check measures
Approximate distance through the solid along the inward surface normal, measured at each triangle’s center. Colors apply to the whole triangle; tiny features between samples can be missed. Closed, consistently oriented meshes are required. Open, overlapping or mixed-orientation shells can give missing or misleading results.
The 1 mm and 2 mm bands are review guides, not printability or strength limits. Blue does not mean safe. This check does not evaluate loads, weak joints, layer direction, supports, infill or material strength.
How is this estimate calculated?
This prototype uses model volume and surface area, a 1.2 mm shell approximation, selected infill, material density, and an assumed 8 mm³/s flow rate with a 1.5× time allowance. It is not a slicer. Thin walls, overlapping shells, cavities and supports may substantially change the result.
Illustrative rates: PLA $0.08/g, PETG $0.10/g, machine time $3/hour, $5 preparation per batch, $12 minimum per batch. The displayed range is −20% to +30%, with the minimum applied. These rates must be approved by the studio before customer use. Submit a request for a studio-reviewed quote before committing to production.
